National Schools Competition
Over the last 3 months, following the start of the 2020/21 academic year, we have been liaising with Schools, County Organisers and Regional Competitions Chairs about the National Schools Competition for this year. COVID-19 has sadly impacted our ability to deliver netball across the country, including school netball. However, we have been working tirelessly to return our sport and a key priority for us is to enable young people to continue playing netball and enjoy the physical and psychological benefits our great game brings to those involved, and it is with this in mind that we are determined to fully support school netball.
Following consultation with those key groups, for 2021 we are proposing some exciting changes to the National Schools Competition for this year as a result of COVID-19 that we wanted to share with you first. These changes are to ensure that more young people can return to playing netball whilst also ensuring we are able to do so in line with the current restrictions in place across the country. Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, we had started a full competition review, which included the National Schools Competition.
These changes have not been a part of this process, however, at the conclusion of the competition, we would welcome any thoughts on this year’s competition that may be useful when planning the longer-term future of school netball.
You can find all of the information on our plans for the 2021 National Schools Competition here.
We will also be in touch with County and Regional competition organisers in the new year about how you can support the competition if you would like to. There is no obligation for you to be involved this year, but we would welcome support from any of you to help provide the excellent level of competition our schools are used to.
We are planning on communicating this to schools later today so please do not share this information until tomorrow.
If you have any questions with regards to the National Schools Competition, please do not hesitate to contact our competition and events team oncompevents@englandnetball.co.uk.
