MK NETBALL TRAINING CAMP Hazeley Academy Emperor Drive MK8 0PA
Netball training camp –Led by Head Coach and U17 Wasps Hub Head coach Julie Tucker and supported by Regional Coaches, and Superleague NPL players Storm U21 Captain Lydia Rowlands, Wasps U19 vice Captain defender Karis and U19-21 Wasps/U19 England Megan Thorne
n the week that marks a year since the Vitality Netball World Cup in Liverpool, the electric atmosphere in the arena and fan park seem a million miles away from where we are now. However, we’re determined not to let the current climate stop the momentum that we created, and we’re delighted to share with you the first steps on how we will collectively get back on court.
Following the Government’s announcement on 9 July and our response here, our return now seems a little bit closer. It is important to note that this is not a race and the pace of return for each sport needs to be considered against the exact nature of the game. We understand how frustrating it is to see sports like cricket return but the reality is, it is far easier to socially distance on a cricket pitch than on a netball court. :: CLICK HERE for More ::
As you will have seen, the country is starting to see some lockdown measures relaxed and many businesses reopening, giving us some glimmer of normality resuming.
This has made us hopeful that leisure centres will not be far behind as the health and wellbeing of the public has never been more important.
With this in mind, we are continuing to work closely with the Government as well as otherGoverning Bodies and Sport England to plan and prepare for sport’s safe return.
We hope that it won’t be too much longer until we can all get back on court together at the community level, even if the game may look slightly different to the full form we are used to. With this in mind, we’re delightedto introduce to you our anticipated Roadmap for the return of community netball. There are however a few caveats to this that we hope you understand:
EGM to be held on Tuesday 7th July at 1930 – via zoom AGM to be held on Tuesday 11th August at 1900 – location TBC
As a regional management board (RMB), we have held off holding our AGM until there was a clearer indication of the future netballing landscape. However as per the Netball South Constitution, we are required to seek agreement from our members on the membership fee that we charge for the upcoming season (referred to as the subscription fee in our constitution). England Netball need this confirmed by early July and as such we will need to hold an EGM, 21 (twenty-one) days from today on Tuesday 7th July via Zoom.
As our constitution does not cover times like we are currently living in there will be an additional motion proposed.
EGM proposals: • Netball South Regional Fee is set to £0.00 (free) for the 2020-2021 season • In 2020 Netball South can hold its AGM via a suitable platform (such as zoom) in place of a physical meeting as required.
To ensure that these motions can be discussed and voted there will need to be 10 voting members from at least 3 of our counties present. Please can you RSVP to the regional Coordinator Lucy Farrell (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to the meeting – Zoom details will be sent at least 72 (seventy-two) hours before the meeting.
The RMB have also agreed to hold the AGM on Tuesday 11th August at 1900 at a venue to be confirmed shortly.
Some of you may know that this was my first year as regional chair and while I have made progress with the RMB, other commitments have limited my time available and which is required to dedicate for this role. As such I have made the difficult decision to step down as Chair of the Netball South RMB at this year’s AGM.
Our region is one of the best in the country and this can be seen by the talent players produced by our counties, the quality of our umpires and officials, and the incredible standard of our regional leagues. Our region has a bright future it just needs someone who can commit the time to growing the relationships and developing our future strategy.
Scott our treasurer will also be standing down at the AGM so we will also be looking to recruit a volunteer into this role. We also have up to 5 (five) places for general members on our board to give the RMB a wide perspective and voice for all those who participate in the game in our region.
The role descriptions and application forms are attached to this notice. Applications for the RMB will close at 1700 on Tuesday 30th June and will be voted on at the AGM. If you would like to discuss any of the roles, please contact me – email@example.com.
If you would like to propose an amendment to the constitution or another resolution, please do so before 1700 on Tuesday 14th July by sending this to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Notification of the location, proposed resolutions and the nominees for the vacated/vacant RMB positions will be circulated no later than Tuesday 21st June.
Thank you for your support of the game this season and especially during the last few months, hopefully we will be back on court soon.
