Bedford Mavericks Futures Academy Screening

22/8/2017

Please see the below message from Sam Brightman at Hertfordshire Mavericks Netball:

I am writing, on behalf of the Mavericks Super league Franchise with exciting news about the New Mavericks Performance Pathway and within this pathway are the Mavericks Futures Academy that will be starting in Bedford

We would like to open up lines of communication with yourself and your club/school/academy and work together to ensure that the young netballers have the best pathway possible to further their netball aspirations.

The Bedford Mavericks Futures Academy, are holding screening on Monday 4 September, 6-9pm at Bedford Modern School, and would ask you to recommend any athletes from your club/school/academy to be invited to trial.

Screening to get into the Young Mavericks Academy took place in July where a number of County, Satellite and Regional athletes attended.

Mavericks have had a history of being closer to the East region however this is expanding and players will now be involved from the East, South and London & the SE. As we are expanding and having Futures Academies that are easier to access in this area, we are extending the screening to ensure we haven't missed any talent.

If you have any athletes that you would like to attend, could you please pass on the information and ask them to submit the attached trial form by Thursday 31 August. There is also a flyer attached for your information.

If you have any further questions, please contact admin@mavericksnetball.co.uk.

Mavericks Futures Academy

3/8/2017

Please see below a message from Sam Brightman
I am writing to you to introduce myself as Head Coach of the new Mavericks Futures Academy in Bedford. An exciting opportunity for our athletes within the Mavericks Performance Pathway.

This year, Mavericks will be rolling out a Mavericks Futures Academy in Bedford, which aims to develop and progress talented netballers to feed Mavericks Netball Club.
The academy will run as weekly training sessions on a Monday night for 30 weeks of the year, starting in October 2017.

The futures academy will act as a stepping stone between County Academy and the U17 and U19 Young Mavericks Squads. The aim is for the performance pathway to be a fluid, flexible, open performance environment where athletes can be pushed on if their performance permits.

There will be a number of Mavericks Futures Academies across the region in a bid for training to become as accessible as possible for the individual players. The Bedford Academy will primarily aim to reach athletes in Bedford, Cambs, and North Bucks.

Alongside their weekly training sessions, Mavericks Futures Academy athletes will also have competition in the form of match play days against other Futures academies.

There are already a group of athletes who were unsuccessful at Young Mavericks U17 and U19 trials who have been recommended to attend this Academy. We are planning to hold a small screening event to select other players for the Academy. Details of which will be circulated in the near future.

There will be more detailed information coming your way soon. However I know there will be lots of questions, and decisions for athletes/parents to make so please feel free to give me a call to discuss. You can reach me on 07875 226 941.

Kind Regards
Sam Brightman
