Update on the England Netball Officiating awards
Netball Europe (our Awarding body for Officiating) have provided us with an update on the extension of expiry dates for Netball Europe officiating awards, due to COVID-19. To ensure a consistent approach England Netball have adopted the same directive on extensions to awards and written assessments to the Into officiating award, as outlined by Netball Europe (please see attached). The NE officiating group and Board have stated that they will continue to review this situation to determine if any further considerations and changes are required because of COVID-19 and will update us accordingly.
I also wanted to update you on the C award written assessment. You will be aware that England Netball conducted a pilot of the C Award Online Written Paper in December 2020, with 3 counties. As a result, we are delighted to now be able to roll this out with learners across the country. As we move forwards with the new roll out of online courses, the C Award written paper will become a part of the learner pathway and we will liaise directly with Netball Europe to ensure that all learners are given the opportunity to sit the written paper and you will not need to take the administrative load of this.
However, there are still learners currently in the system who will be waiting to sit this written paper and we would encourage them to now do so. For these learners waiting, they can apply directly to Netball Europe and they will be set up shortly after with a written paper. Information on how to do this can be found in the guide attached.

RULE AMENDMENTS FROM JANUARY 2018
The International Netball Federation (INF) announced the release of the 2020 Rules of Netball for implementation across all international matches from 1 January 2020.
Whilst the news of a change of rules often creates the idea that fundamental aspects of how the sport is played will change the updates to the 2020 rule book center around a number of minor tweaks and ‘tidy ups’ to the existing text.
Like many other governing bodies across the world, England Netball has taken the decision to implement the new rules for all domestic competitions and leagues from 1st September 2020. This is to ensure there is adequate time for us to amend any course resources, competition regulations and for us to work with our dedicated County and Regional Officiating Leads to deliver any new rules sessions that may be required.
Please note the Vitality Netball Superleague will be the only league in England to be played under the new rules.
Further information will be circulated in due course but in the meantime should you require any further information please do get in contact with us at officiating@englandnetball.co.uk.
England Netball wishes to acknowledge and thank the members of the INF Rules Panel for the hard work they have undertaken –
Thank you!
The 2020 International Netball Rules Book can be downloaded here!
Information on the main changes can be downloaded here!
Please remember that any rules questions or queries can be sent to Officiating Department with more information found on our Rules FAQs page.
